The Drop App is another cash back app where you earn points based on your shopping trip. However, this app is slightly different than your typical grocery rebate apps. You earn points by swiping your debit card or credit card at checkout. NO submitting receipts needed. Once you pay for your groceries, you earn points instantly. No more unlocking products and dealing with receipt scanning issues like similar apps such as Ibotta.
What stores are included in the DROP App?
Well, you get to choose 5 stores that you shop at regularly. I personally chose Walmart, Walgreens and Whole Foods. My other 2 are McDonalds and 7-eleven. Yes, you can choose non-grocery stores. I go to 7-eleven often! But you can choose a few other stores such as Target, Trader Joe’s, Costco, Safeway and HEB. And if you don’t have a car to go shopping, then you can get cash back if you take an UBER or Lift. Or you can use a service like Instacart and earn cash back.
NOTE: You only get one chance to choose your 5 stores. So, choose wisely. Once your stores are chosen you are stuck with them. That is the only downfall I see with the app.
How to Get Started with Drop
For starters, you can get 1000 points ($1.00) for free when you join with a referral code. And you can earn 1000 points for each friend you personally refer.

Referral Code: 9ra3r
After you download the app you will need to link your debit cards and/or credit cards in order to start earning points automatically. You will be prompted to login to your bank account and link your chosen accounts. Some people are uncomfortable logging into your bank through outside apps. The Drop App claims to use “bank-level” 256 bit encryption and they also state that they never store your data. And no one can touch your funds through the app, not Drop and not even you!
Once your cards are linked to your Drop account the fun begins! Just go shopping like you already have been before you were introduced to the app. You will start racking up points that you can redeem for gift cards. And the great thing is non-grocery items count. So, if you’re shopping at Target and you purchase groceries, toys, appliances and whatever else, it’s all included. That’s because cash back is not based on what products you buy. It’s based on the total amount you spend each trip.
How Much Cash Back Can You Earn?
The amount of cash back that you earn is different for every store you shop at. Walmart has a very small amount, but it’s FREE money so no complaints here!
Walmart – 2 points per $1
HEB – 10 points per $1
Fred Meyers – 12 points per $1
Trader Joe’s – 12 points per $1
Target – 8 points per $1
Whole Foods – 8 points per $1
Safeway – 8 points per $1
7-Eleven – 16 points per $1
Walgreens – 8 points per $1
Starbucks – 12 points per $1
McDonalds – 8 points per $1
The points really add up over time. Plus, you can use other reward apps with this one. For instance, if you shop at Walmart you can earn points from your bank, earn points from Drop, submit your receipt to Walmart Savings Catcher, submit your receipt to Fetch Rewards, ReceiptPal and ReceiptHog AND if you buy select products you might be able to earn cash back from other apps like Ibotta and Checkout 51.
Once you have a minimum of 5000 points ($5.00) you can redeem your first gift card. Remember, you get 1000 points for FREE when you join with a referral code. Use code 9ra3r. Did you join? Feel free to comment and include your referral code. You will receive 1000 points for each friend that joins.
